At SATHYA, every contribution represents an act of trust and support towards our mission of empowering individuals, children, youth, families, and communities.

We are committed to ensuring that donations received through our authorised channels are handled responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and our organisational policies.

This Donation Policy explains the principles and practices that govern donations made to SATHYA.

1. Purpose of Donations

Donations received by SATHYA are used to support our charitable programmes, projects, campaigns, and organisational activities.

Depending on the donor's stated preference and the requirements of a particular programme, contributions may support initiatives including:

  • Education and learning support.
  • Children and youth development.
  • Health awareness and medical initiatives.
  • Adult literacy and community education.
  • Clothing and essential-needs distribution.
  • Self-help groups and livelihood-related initiatives.
  • Community development and empowerment.
  • Emergency or humanitarian support.
  • Other charitable programmes and initiatives undertaken by SATHYA.

2. Voluntary Contributions

All donations made to SATHYA are voluntary.

A donation does not create any ownership, membership, employment, partnership, or other legal relationship between the donor and SATHYA unless expressly agreed in writing.

Donors should carefully review the donation amount and transaction details before completing a contribution.

3. Donation Methods

SATHYA may accept donations through authorised channels, which may include:

  • Online donations through the official SATHYA website.
  • Bank transfers.
  • Cheques or other permitted payment instruments.
  • Authorised fundraising campaigns.
  • Other officially approved donation channels.

Donors should make contributions only through payment methods and accounts officially communicated or published by SATHYA.

SATHYA is not responsible for payments made to unauthorised individuals, accounts, websites, or organisations claiming to represent SATHYA.

4. Online Donations

Online donations may be processed through authorised third-party payment gateways.

The donor may be required to provide certain information necessary to process and acknowledge the donation.

Payment credentials such as card numbers, CVV, PINs, passwords, or OTPs should never be shared directly with SATHYA staff or representatives.

Donors should ensure that they are using the official SATHYA website or an authorised donation platform before making an online contribution.

5. Use of Donations

SATHYA aims to use donations responsibly and for purposes consistent with its charitable objectives.

Where a donation is made towards a particular programme, campaign, or initiative, SATHYA will make reasonable efforts to use the contribution for that stated purpose.

However, circumstances may arise in which the original programme or campaign:

  • Reaches its funding requirement.
  • Is completed or discontinued.
  • Changes in scope or implementation.
  • Becomes impractical due to operational or external circumstances.
  • No longer requires the same level of funding.

In such circumstances, SATHYA may, where appropriate and legally permitted, redirect the contribution towards a closely related charitable purpose or another programme supporting its overall mission.

This enables SATHYA to use available resources responsibly and maximise their social impact.

6. Designated Donations

If SATHYA provides an option for donors to designate their contribution towards a specific programme or initiative, the donor's stated preference will be considered in accordance with the applicable programme requirements.

Designation of a donation does not necessarily guarantee that the entire contribution will be spent exclusively on a single activity if doing so is not practical, legally permissible, or consistent with the stated purpose of the programme.

SATHYA may use a reasonable portion of contributions for programme administration, implementation, monitoring, communication, technology, compliance, and other costs necessary to deliver charitable activities effectively.

7. Unrestricted Donations

Unrestricted donations provide SATHYA with flexibility to direct funds towards areas where they are most needed.

Such contributions may be used for:

  • Current and emerging programme needs.
  • Community initiatives.
  • Operational support necessary for programme delivery.
  • Organisational infrastructure and administration.
  • Monitoring and evaluation.
  • Other legitimate charitable purposes consistent with SATHYA's objectives.

Unrestricted contributions allow SATHYA to respond to changing community needs and allocate resources where they can create the greatest impact.

8. Donation Receipts and Acknowledgement

SATHYA may provide an acknowledgement, receipt, or donation certificate for eligible contributions in accordance with applicable laws and organisational procedures.

Donors should provide accurate information when making a donation to ensure that receipts and acknowledgements can be issued correctly.

Where applicable, donors may be required to provide information such as:

  • Full name.
  • Address.
  • Email address.
  • Mobile number.
  • Donation amount.
  • Transaction/reference number.
  • Other information required for statutory or accounting purposes.

9. Tax Benefits

Where applicable, donations may qualify for tax benefits or deductions under prevailing Indian laws and regulations.

Eligibility for any tax benefit depends on the applicable law, the donor's individual circumstances, and the status and eligibility of SATHYA at the relevant time.

SATHYA does not guarantee that every donation will qualify for a tax deduction.

Donors are encouraged to retain their donation receipts and consult their tax adviser or relevant tax authority regarding their individual tax position.

10. Foreign Contributions

Where SATHYA is legally authorised to receive foreign contributions, such contributions will be accepted and utilised in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, permissions, registrations, and reporting requirements.

Where SATHYA is not authorised to accept a particular category of foreign contribution, such contribution will not be knowingly accepted through unauthorised channels.

Donors making international contributions should ensure that they comply with any requirements applicable to their country and payment method.

11. Anonymous Donations

Where permitted by applicable law and organisational procedures, donors may request that their identity or contribution not be publicly acknowledged.

However, SATHYA may still be required to collect and retain certain donor information for payment processing, accounting, audit, tax, regulatory, or legal purposes.

12. Donor Privacy

SATHYA respects the privacy of its donors and handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Donor information will not be sold or rented to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

Information may be shared with authorised service providers, payment gateways, auditors, professional advisers, government authorities, or other parties where reasonably necessary for legitimate organisational, legal, regulatory, accounting, or operational purposes.

13. Public Recognition

SATHYA may, where appropriate, recognise or acknowledge donors, supporters, sponsors, or partners in its reports, publications, website, events, or other communications.

Where appropriate, SATHYA will consider the donor's stated preference regarding public acknowledgement.

Donors who do not wish to be publicly recognised may contact SATHYA to request that their name not be used for public acknowledgement, subject to applicable legal and reporting requirements.

14. Donations Made by Mistake

If a donor believes that a donation was made accidentally, duplicated, or processed incorrectly, the donor should contact SATHYA as soon as possible with the relevant transaction details.

Refund and cancellation requests will be handled in accordance with SATHYA's Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Submission of a refund request does not automatically guarantee a refund.

15. Fraudulent or Unauthorised Donations

SATHYA reserves the right to investigate donations that appear to involve fraud, money laundering, unauthorised payment activity, misrepresentation, or other unlawful conduct.

Where required, SATHYA may cooperate with payment providers, financial institutions, law-enforcement agencies, regulators, or other authorised authorities.

SATHYA may refuse, suspend, or return a donation where it reasonably believes that accepting the contribution may violate applicable law or create a significant legal, regulatory, financial, or reputational risk.

16. Donor Responsibilities

Donors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The information provided during the donation process is accurate.
  • The donation is made through an authorised SATHYA channel.
  • They have the authority to use the selected payment method.
  • They review the donation amount before completing the transaction.
  • They retain relevant transaction and donation records.
  • They comply with any legal or tax requirements applicable to their contribution.

17. No Commercial Benefit

Unless expressly agreed as part of a lawful sponsorship or partnership arrangement, making a donation does not entitle the donor to goods, services, financial returns, ownership interests, or other commercial benefits from SATHYA.

Donations are intended to support SATHYA's charitable objectives and activities.

18. Transparency and Accountability

SATHYA is committed to responsible stewardship of donor contributions.

Where appropriate, SATHYA may communicate information about its programmes, activities, achievements, and impact through reports, updates, publications, digital communications, or other appropriate channels.

The availability and level of reporting may vary depending on the nature and size of a programme or contribution.

19. Changes to the Donation Policy

SATHYA may update or modify this Donation Policy from time to time to reflect changes in its programmes, donation processes, applicable laws, regulations, technology, or organisational practices.

Any updated version will be published on this page with the revised effective date.
